The part of the roof everyone's seen — and nobody looks at
Fascias, soffits and guttering sit quietly at the edge of the roof doing two jobs: carrying water away from your brickwork and keeping the roof space ventilated. When they fail, the symptoms show up indoors — damp patches on upstairs walls, peeling paint at the eaves, gutters that waterfall every time it rains.
We replace tired timber rooflines with quality uPVC systems that never need painting. If the existing timber ends are sound, we'll tell you; our preference is always full replacement rather than capping over, because capped timber can rot unseen for years behind the plastic.
One job we're particularly proud of: a Four Oaks customer whose neighbour recommended us wrote afterwards that 'from the first phone call it was clear just how professional this company is'. We aim for that reaction on every roofline we refit.
Common questions
Our honest advice is full replacement in most cases. Capping clips new uPVC over the old timber — quicker and cheaper, but any rot already in the board keeps going quietly behind it. We'll inspect and price both options so you can decide with the facts.
Classic signs: peeling or flaking paint at the eaves, gutters overflowing in moderate rain, sagging runs, wasps or birds getting into the loft, or damp staining high on outside walls. Any of those is worth a free look.
A typical semi-detached house takes two to three days including gutters. We work round the house in sections, so you're never left with an open eaves overnight.
Under heavy tree cover, decent guards genuinely reduce blockages. In open areas they're often unnecessary. We fit them where they'll earn their keep — and tell you where they won't.
