PRIVACY NOTICE
How we handle your details
Short version: we only ask for what we need to quote your job, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. The longer (proper) version is below, in plain English.
Who we are
J5 Roofing is the trading name of John Parker, a family-run roofing contractor based at 16 Edgemond Avenue, Erdington, Birmingham, B24 0QQ. For anything in this notice, or to use any of your rights, contact us at j5roofing@hotmail.com or on 0121 839 1490. J5 Roofing is the “data controller” for the personal information described here.
What we collect and why
When you use the enquiry form on this website, we collect your name, phone number, postcode (optional), the service you’re interested in and your message. If you call or email us directly, we keep whatever contact details you give us for the same reason.
We use this information to respond to your enquiry, visit and quote for the work, and carry out any work you ask us to do. The legal bases we rely on under UK GDPR are: taking steps at your request before entering a contract (Article 6(1)(b)), and our legitimate interests in running the business and responding to enquiries (Article 6(1)(f)).
We do not use your details for marketing lists, we do not profile you, and we do not sell or pass your details to anyone else for their own marketing. Ever.
Where your information is processed
This website is hosted, and enquiry-form submissions are processed, by Netlify (Netlify, Inc., USA). Submissions are also delivered to us by email to j5roofing@hotmail.com (Microsoft). Where information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by appropriate safeguards — the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or UK adequacy regulations.
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. In fact it makes no third-party requests at all — even the fonts are hosted on our own server. The only outside companies involved are the ones that pass your enquiry to us: Netlify, which hosts this site and processes the form, and Microsoft, which hosts the email account it arrives in.
How long we keep it
Enquiry details are kept for up to 24 months so we can refer back to quotes and conversations. If you become a customer, job and invoice records are kept for up to 6 years to meet tax and legal limitation requirements.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that’s wrong;
- ask us to delete your information (where we don’t have a legal reason to keep it);
- ask us to restrict or object to how we use it;
- ask for a portable copy of it.
Just call or email us using the details above and we’ll sort it — no forms, no fuss.
If you’re not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk, telephone 0303 123 1113, or Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle personal information we’ll update this page. This notice was last updated on 13 October 2026.
